Yesterday night, Lisa Ruyter presented her new initiative – Temporary Autonomous Zone and Feminist Archive – a collaboration with ff, an international feminist artists group. The show is small but intense. Upon entering the first dark room you find yourself in front of a little spot-lit stage. On the background you see a slideshow of large format photographs of men’s testicles and on the side wall a note that the artist is in search of models who’d like to pose. The other three rooms contain installations and video art, including a very persuasive monolog by a young woman exploring the nature of women’s self-oppression and encouraging them to become masters of their own destiny.
The program of Temporary Autonomous Zone continues tonight with the Costume Ball. It’s held at Lisa Ryuter Studio at Brucknerstrasse 4, 1040 Vienna and will start at 9:00 pm.
