Vienna Art Night In Moscow

The Vienna Art Night at Manege Exhibition Hall in Moscow was definitely the highlight of the International Museum Night  last Saturday (with more than one million people). The Viennese sound:frame festival rocked the stage with an amazing show of club sounds and visuals! A short report from our Russian “party” blogger Kate Shebanova.

After discussing the event with my friend and the director of Marketing and Development of Moscow Manege Aleksandr Uskov, it was clear that he was as excited as much as I was: “It was an thrilling experiment for us – in the framework of the Museum Night six exhibitions opened in Manege and Vienna Art Night was one of the highlights – 30 thousand people visited us during the night!”

The Museum Night 2013 intrigued its guests, offering concerts with classical and rock music to video mapping installations and the open-air screening of silent films. Despite the abundance of activities, I was most interested in the Vienna Art Night presented by the Austrian Cultural Forum, Vienna Tourist Board, and Media Art Lab. The event took place at Moscow Manege right next to the Kremlin! And I made the correct decision by going there. The event was amazing. It featured the great Austrian musicians Electro Guzzi, Anna Leiser, and Cid Rim. The visuals were by Luma.Launisch, e:v/a, and LWZ. Funny bright Vienna Night!

Since 2007 the sound:frame festival Vienna has been dealing with audio-visual expressions in an artistic and club-oriented context. This year’s topic is “collective”. (We reported on the festival opening at MAK, click here) Together with the Museum of Screen Culture, sound:frame elaborated an audiovisual art exhibition, curated by Eva Fischer, with an educational and a live performance program.

The sound:frame exhibition in Moscow is part of the “Austrian Cultural Season in Russia” initiated by the Austrian Cultural Forum. Director and New Contemporary blogger Simon Mraz is coordinating this versatile and ambitious program. Check it out!

the sound:frame exhibition “collective” runs until June 26, 2013.
