We are happy to announce the list of young galleries selected for viennacontemporary this year. 10 galleries from 6 countries present both local and inernational contemporary art.
ART+TEXT BUDAPEST (HU)
Gallery Art+Text Budapest was founded in 2014. Its focus lies on contemporary art, post-war modernism and photography. Exhibiting both artists from 60-70s and the emerging ones, Art+Text Budapest is working to create a bridge between the Hungarian contemporary art scene and the international art world.
Chimera-Project Gallery (HU)
Chimera-Project Gallery was established in Budapest in 2013 . The gallery represents artists from the CEE region – from neo-avantgarde to recent conceptually grounded practices.
TOBE Gallery (HU)
TOBE Gallery was founded in 2013 in Budapest. Presenting Ibero-American and Hungarian artists, it claims that its key aim is to give photography a new value and communicate it as independent art.
ERTI GALLERY (GE)
Erti Gallery was founded in Tbilisi in 2015. Promoting Georgian contemporary art in Georgia and abroad, it works both with established and emerging artists. The gallery focuses on innovative art, including painting, photography, a distinctive combination of new media art, video and installation-based work and drawing.
Popiashvili Gvaberidze Window Project (GE)
Popiashvili Gvaberidze Window Project was founded in 2013 in Tbilisi. It presents frequent exhibitions of Georgian contemporary artists and studio works as well as international artists and industrial designers.
House of Egorn (DE)
House of Egorn gallery was founded in 2015. Located in the heart of Berlin’s ‘Potse’ gallery district, it has two separate focuses: fist, emerging/mid-career artists from Asia and Latin America as well as multi-genre artists.
Galerie Lisa Kandlhofer (AT)
A gallery was founded in 2013 in Vienna and was called LisaBird Contemporary. In 2016 it moved into the new space in the artistic area between Schleifmühlgasse, the first district and the Belvedere, changing the name to Galerie Lisa Kandlhofer. Since then, gallerie’s main focus is the contemporary art of South America.
OstLicht. Galerie für Fotografie (AT)
OstLicht Gallery was established in 2012 on the premises of the Brotfabrik, Vienna’s emerging cultural centre. Exhibiting Austrian and international contemporary photo art along with a permanent exhibition of historical cameras, it also has a library with a rich selection of books and magazines on photography.
Gallery KRANJČAR was founded in 2006 to present the works by Croatian contemporary artists. Located in the area of Kaptol in Zagreb, it’s a multi-purpose platform, combining social, artistic and educational activities.
Gallery Sofie Van de Velde (BE)
Gallery Sofie Van de Velde was founded in 2013 in Antwerp. It is specialized in contemporary art, with focus on local artists and international artists whose works have rarely – or never – been exhibited in Belgium before
