viennacontemporary 2017 | Cinema

As part of the Cinema program, curator Olaf Stüber presents films and videos of Austrian and international artists that were submitted by the galleries participating in viennacontemporary. The selected films and videos will be shown as part of a daily program with fixed starting times for the individual works. For viennacontemporary 2017, Stüber chose the theme of my own little happiness.
Happiness is a very personal, almost intimate topic. In most cases, we do not find happiness at the end of a long-awaited event or goal: Fame and wealth may bring satisfaction, but not happiness. All too often, our search for the ultimate thrill results in exhaustion, the quest for endless highs causes low spirits.

Happiness, however, is found along the route. You can find it hiding in little details, in the trivialities of every day life and especially, as the Grant-Study found by following 286 Havard Alumni for 75 years, in good and close relationships to other people.

The screening program of Cinema at viennacontemporary 2017 is looking for artist films and videos that focus on the topic of happiness – whether it is the search for the little moments of joy, or the failure of attaining happiness.
